ABOUT ME
Hi there, I’m Hollie Ruth (she/they). I am a Queer Somatic Trauma Practitioner and Writer living on the unceded lands of the Tongva, Chumash, and Kizh peoples currently known as Los Angeles. As a body-based practitioner, I offer my presence as a loving guide and gentle invitation to unravel traumatic imprints through connecting to the language of your body. My work is in service of all bodies and beings and based on the belief that the individual body is a revolutionary ground of healing, where shifts in personal form become a map for radical reimagining and care of the collective body. This work is for those curious about unfurling from survival patterning and re-associating with a deeper sense of self and emotional wellbeing for liberation of the individual and the whole.
I hold integrative certifications in Somatic Release Technique (SRT), The Points Holding Process & PsychoNeuroEnergetic (PNE), a body-based approach that invites the processing of energy, emotions, and memories through body sensation awareness.
I was raised in the woods of the Appalachian mountains, the child of a once Southern Baptist pastor. My childhood unfolded in the liminal space between wilderness and dogma—largely removed from modernity and intertwined with the natural world, yet deeply enmeshed within the rigid embrace of fundamental Evangelical Christianity.
I inherited a collection of intersecting identities that reinforced my separation from body and self as perceived safety. I learned to inhabit a curious dual consciousness: simultaneously the observer and the observed, positioned just beyond the boundaries of my own lived experience. My sense of self became a landscape meticulously shaped by external expectations, my authentic interior obscured.
Even still, the wisdom of the body persisted. I began receiving somatic therapy in 2016 and was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition within the same month—the body speaking via symptoms, generously offering a map toward unconscious memories and long-held tensions. I began exploring alternative healing modalities—EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Parts Work, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Functional Medicine, and Kinesiology—as intricate pathways to mend the fractured connection between mind and body that had been quietly severed through chronic and rewarded disconnection from my being.
Through the work of PNE, I began to move closer to essence and beyond the self constructed by external expectations and conditioning, offering me a profound sense of integration—a homecoming to the wisdom held within my own form. This unraveling and tender awakening to the language of the body became the fertile ground from which my current practice would emerge. I found my way to this practice—or this practice found its way to me, rather—during a profound shedding, a moment of Life asking me to begin releasing all that I'd architected my life upon without knowing how to reconstruct without it, and so I did.
After studying under PNE's original founder and teacher (now in her mid 80s), I come to this work humbly in service of the wisdom of the body, the wisdom that intuitively arises from this work and has guided me to my deepest healing.
With Earth as my original and greatest teacher, I see that my relationship to my body began in the woods long ago and continues to stand as an embodied expression of care for self, community, and the world we are dreaming together.
Ultimately, slowing down to listen to the body feels counterintuitive in our society that systematically operates on our disconnection from it. Yet the act of listening is a direct confrontation with systems intentionally designed for fragmentation and disconnection. My somatic practice is a practice of reimagining how we might exist together where embodiment transforms individual gestures into blueprints of collective liberation. When we inhabit our bodies, revolution ceases in the abstract and becomes a true possibility, emerging from the radical act of reshaping our most immediate world—ourselves.
It is my great honor to share this practice with you, and it is a brave act to seek a way of relating to yourself through the language of the body. In understanding and in reverence of the courage it takes, I am committed to offering a safe place of rest, exploration, and permission that welcomes the body’s natural unwinding process, and I am committed to my own continued healing and lifelong learning which most meaningfully exists in my relationships with all Living Beings - human and non-human.
As a person of European descent, I am committed to healing from intergenerational trauma and unlearning patterns of white supremacy and domination. My ongoing work involves transforming inherited narratives of disconnection by cultivating genuine solidarity, empathy, and a deeper understanding of collective liberation beyond the confines of historical oppression.
I am very honored to work with humans of all sexes, gender identifications, orientations, and cultural backgrounds, and am explicitly and absolutely queer-, trans-, and poly-friendly.
I very much look forward to being in the magic and co-creation of healing with you.
